Final Letter
Dear Friends,
Very soon we will be meeting for the Anniversary Consultation, we are looking forward to welcoming you to London.
With this letter is the latest programme. There have had to be a few changes because of the visit of His Holiness the Pope to London, and there may be a few more before our consultation – but for now you know what is planned.
On the afternoon of Thursday 16th September there have been arranged, for those who requested it, visits to a Chaplaincy Department, details will be sent to the individual directly giving who to meet, where to meet and how to get there.
For those not visiting a chaplaincy Department there is a tour of St Pauls Cathedral at 2pm – but you must book in with me before Thursday 9th September. If travel arrangements mean you miss the tour, there is tea at 4pm – again please book. We will all meet for evensong at 5pm followed by the formal opening of the Consultation.
We need all invoices to be paid now!!!! Please ensure that you have either paid or been in touch so that we know payments are in progress.
It should be a great consultation – see you in London on September 16th.
With all good wishes,
Debbie

Coordinator's Letter (June 2010)
June 20, 2010
Dear Participants of the ENHCC,
Summer is here, which means that our meeting in London is fast approaching. If you have not registered for the consultation, we ask that you do so immediately. Along with this letter, you will also find a letter from the organizers of our Anniversary Consultation explaining final details.
I would like to state again that all of us should make every effort to stay through the final session which will be on Sunday September 19th. The original program has been altered a bit to allow for ease in reaching the airport on time for departing flights. We will begin the Sunday session at 9:15am with a common prayer and end the Consultation at 11:30am with the handover to the new Coordinator.
At the beginning of the final session, we will spend a short time to ratify our Constitution. The Network Committee members discussed the need for appointing a treasurer to keep tabs on our accounts, participation fees and payments. Attached you will see the proposed changes the Committee agreed. (They are marked in red.) Please read them so that you will be informed.
We would also like to ask:
- That you write (or update) information about chaplaincy in your country. Many of you have posted this information on our web page. You will find the links to the individual country pages from the page with the flags of the countries: http://www.eurochaplains.org/countries.htm .
- That you also write (or update) information about yourselves.
- Check your contact information which appears on our Contacts page: http://www.eurochaplains.org/contacts.htm and make any corrections necessary. All of this information should be sent to our webmaster, Fred Coutts at
In closing, I wish you all a very nice summer and a safe journey to royal city of London. It will indeed be a great reunion.
Sincerely,
Fr. Stavros Kofinas

DEPARTURE
Coordinator's Letter (March 2009)
March 13, 2010
Dear Fellow Chaplains,
As you have been informed, the upcoming “Anniversary Consultation” of the ENHCC will take place between the 16th and the 19th of September 2010 in London. Our gracious hosts, Debbie Hodge and Edward Lewis, have eagerly been working in organizing our stay in the Royal City of Europe. Along with this letter, you will find a letter from them, together with the program, the registration form and details of where the meeting will take place.
The fact that this Consultation will celebrate 10 years of Networking and 20 years of European Chaplaincy makes it even more important that we all attend. The theme of the Consultation, “Chaplains in the future – giving and receiving”, will afford us the possibility to discuss what path our Network should take over the coming years, how our Chaplaincies will develop, what difficulties will be encountered, what possibilities of growth exist and, finally, how the future of the chaplain as a person will evolve.
Coinciding with the discussion regarding the future, we will also elect a new Coordinator. After many years of serving you, my term has now come to an end. So, it appears symbolic that we will be electing a new Coordinator as we talk about the future. Having said this, I ask that you start thinking about who will be able to take on this important responsibility.
You will notice that this Consultation, as opposed to previous ones, has a different format as to the days we will meet. To economize in time and costs, our meeting will begin on Thursday afternoon (September 16th) and end on Sunday midday (September 19th), following lunch. Being that London’s airports are a hub for European airlines, it will not be difficult for you to find flights that will get you into the city, on Thursday, before our meeting and out of the city, on Sunday, after its conclusion. I would like to ask that we all book our flights accordingly so as not to lose any of the sessions. They are all important! Also, I suggest that you plan your trip immediately to cut down on the air fare.
Finally, for representatives that wish to receive sponsorship for the Consultation, I ask that you write me by the end of May. There are limited funds that will be divided accordingly to help supplement the cost of registration. (As in the past, we are not in a position to cover travel costs.)
With this letter, I would like to send my warmest and heartfelt best wishes, praying that your Holy Week and Easter will be rich in spiritual blessings: that our Crucified Lord will heal our pains with His philanthropy and that His Holy Resurrection will give us the hope of unity and eternity, shedding the Light of His Love through out the Universe.
Sincerely yours,
Rev. Dr. Stavros K. Kofinas

4 November 2009
Dear Friends,
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to London for the next Consultation of the European Network of Health Care Chaplaincy September 16th – 19th 2010. At this Anniversary Consultation, we will be celebrating 20 years of European Chaplaincy and 10 year of since the founding of the ENHCC!
Being that we have reached this point in our history as the main European organization in the area of health care chaplaincy, our theme will deal with “Chaplains in the Future – giving and receiving”. We hope this will stimulate an exciting discussion around the issues of working in an ever changing health care setting; working with those from other disciplines; relationships with faith communities as well as how chaplains develop their skills and grow in faith.
The Consultation Hotel is the Westminster Thistle Hotel, Buckingham Palace Road, London SW 1W 0QT, which is near Victoria Station and Buckingham Palace. It gives easy access from airports and out of London train stations. It also means that you are in the heart of the capital and we hope that besides sharing in the work of the consultation you will have the opportunity to explore the diverse and exciting city of London.
Further details about the Consultation (programme, costs and booking) will be announced in January 2010. In the mean time, being that we will be in London in a time of world financial crisis, we expect that the cost of this Consultation will be higher than in the past. For this reason, it would be wise to begin seeking resources to help cover your expenses. Now that you have the dates of this important event, we encourage you to book your airplane tickets early to cut down on costs. We live in expensive times with little resources. Early booking is surely a way to save.
We look forward to welcoming you to glorious and eloquent City of London.
